The End of the Beginning

At 11:50 PM Mountain Standard time I did it—I wrote my fifty thousandth word.

But, by no means is it time to break out the champagne and celebrate. Even though I achieved my goal of writing enough words to fill your average young adult novel, meeting this goal was not enough because apparently this story is more than average. It looks like I've still got another good ten thousand words or so to go before I can officially say "The End."

By no means does this mean my fifty thousand word goal isn't a big deal—I've accomplished something that takes some writers years to do in the span of a month! And, as a plus, I feel I've got some good quality writing on my hands. I'm just saying that I don't think I can fully appreciate this all until I'm actually finished...I'll keep you posted!

To escape this writing madness, I decided to do some creative stretches by doing some book development through artistic exercises that had nothing to do with word count. The product? Three flipping sweet bookcovers! Okay, what you see here is only the first one, but it's for a good reason—why spoil the fun for you? Now you have to follow this blog to find out what the other two look like!

Also, in a way I guess this post could technically labeled a **SPOILER** because now you have this fantastic piece of artwork chock full of thematic imagery. Hmm...I can't wait to hear your theories on what dandelions have to do with superheroes.

Welcome to Halfway

So, here we are—25,000 words and counting! This is really quite exciting, because not only am I officially done with first half of the book, but now I get to all of the exciting parts as the climax begins to build and the fun begins! With the end in sight, writing a book within 3 1/2 weeks really seems like a reality! See you at the finish line.

It Has Begun

Alrighty!

Now that finals and such are done and out of the way it's time to get down to business. I will be posting a day-by-day word count so you can see how far I've come and so that I'll have motivation to get where I'm going. Oh, and of course I'll be leaving these little literary rants along the way, just for your reading pleasure! Positive and motivational comments are encouraged, but not required—I won't be emotionally hurt or anything, you'll just be held accountable if I give up in the end—and wish me luck!

A New Beginning

So, over Thanksgiving break I started on a new project, and you are now looking at the blog that tracks my progress! Check out my word count up at the top to see how things are faring, and tune in for more updates along the way. By the end of Christmas break, I plan to have "Invincible" spun out, "Infamous" in the works, and "Immortal" shaped and ready to breathe in life.
