Just Living the American Dream

Whoa! It's been nearly a month since my last posting! There's a lot to catch you up on:

First of all, I haven't been writing as much as I've been wanting to due to the fact that I am a full-time student and have been having WAY too much fun lately with homework. :( But there is good news: I am halfway through the semester! Now, as to things pertaining to the matter at hand...

Out of all of the queries I've sent out I've received enough rejections to wallpaper my living room and maybe even the kitchen. They were all nicely written (I even got a few compliments), but they were all rejections nonetheless.

But, I did recieve a letter from ONE agency who is interested in my work, so I sent in the requested excerpt and a synopsis and have been crossing my fingers since! It was quite exciting and definitely brightened my day. I think I couldn't stop smiling for a week straight.

As I wait to hear back, I have been slowly and steadily working on the second book while reluctantly taking stabs at revisions. It wasn't until last night that I decided I should just sit down and get it over with. Surprisingly, it went very well, and I feel that I did a pretty good one-pass revision (http://hollylisle.com/fm/Workshops/one-pass-revision.html) and am quite satisfied. Of course, we'll see how well my editing skills are once I get the manuscript in front of a professional editor!

Also, throughout the last little while I've discovered new music and played around a bit with things, resulting in the revised playlist below. I dare you to listen to it...you know that you'll like it!

Invincible: The Playlist

**THIS IS THE REVISED PLAYLIST**

Throughout my writing journey, I have put together a playlist for my story! More than anything, this is kind of my personal cinematic soundtrack for it. Now, there were a lot of different songs I could have used, but I decided to stick with a mostly Alternative Rock theme because it seems to fit with the story the best. Maybe I'll go through later and tell you my reasoning behind certain songs and maybe do an exposé of some of my favorite artists.

Here we go!

1. Butterflies & Hurricanes, Muse
2. Paranoid, Sara Schiralli
3. The Boys Are Too Refined, The Hush Sound
4. Instructions On Building A Model Airplane, Action Action
5. Human, The Killers
6. New Born, Muse
7. Us, Regina Spektor
8. Beautiful, Borne
9. Car Crash, Matt Nathanson
10. Almost Lover, A Fine Frenzy
11. Too Young to Fight It, Young Love

12. I Guess You’re Right, The Posies
13. Sleep With Your Eyes Open, Borne
14. Don’t Wake Me Up, The Hush Sound
15. Four Piece Jigsaw Puzzle, Action Action
16. Vulnerable, Secondhand Serenade
17. Bleed, Evanescence
18. Feel Fine, Augustana
19. Don’t Cut Your Fabric, Action Action
20. Invincible, Muse

{NOTE: A big reason I'm listing this up is because the playlist below is incomplete because Project Playlist does not carry all of my favorite artists and I believe that their fine artistry needs some form of representation. Enjoy!}
